C1-S1 – Capability to Service Mapping

If a network-enabled capability is to be delivered by the orchestration of loosely couple services (i.e. a service-oriented architecture), it is important to know which services have the potential to support particular capabilities. A C1-S1 Viewpoint presents a simple mapping of services to capabilities, showing which services contribute to which capability.

Usage

The intended usage of the C1-S1 includes:

  • Service Specification & Planning.
  • Governance.

Creating a Service Mapping diagram

A C1-S1 is presented as a diagram showing tracing relationships from capabilities to services.

To create a Capability to Service Mapping diagram:

  1. Click on Capability to Service Mapping in the Action Artifact area, and then select Create New Diagram.
  2. Type the diagram name and press Enter.
  3. A blank diagram is created and you can start constructing the view.
  4. Reuse Capabilities (recommended) through dragging and dropping them from the Model Explorer. Capabilities are defined in C1.
  5. Reuse ServiceSpecifications (recommended) through dragging and dropping them from the Model Explorer. ServiceSpecifications are defined in S1.
  6. Connect Capabilities and ServiceSpecifications with Exhibits connectors.
