SvcV-6 – Services Resource Flow Matrix

The SvcV-6 specifies the characteristics of the Service Resource Flows exchanged between Services. The focus is on resource crossing the service boundary. The SvcV-6 focuses on the specific aspects of the Service Resource Flow and the Service Resource Flow content in a tabular format.

Usage

The intended usage of the SvcV-6 includes:

  • Detailed definition of Resource Flows.

Product Description

The SvcV-6 specifies the characteristics of Service Resource Flow exchanges between Services. The SvcV- is the physical equivalent of the logical OV-3 Operational Resource Flow Matrix and provides detailed information on the service connections which implement the Resource Flow exchanges specified in OV-3 Operational Resource Flow Matrix. Resource flow exchange solutions, whether automated or not, e.g., such as verbal orders, are also captured.

The focus of SvcV-6 is on how the Service Resource Flow exchange is affected, in service-specific details covering periodicity, timeliness, throughput, size, information assurance, and security characteristics of the resource exchange. In addition, for Service Resource Flow of data, their format and media type, accuracy, units of measurement, applicable system data standards, and any DIV-3 Physical Data Models are also described or referenced in the matrix.

Note that there are two diagrams available. The services and the interactions between them can be represented with Services Resource Flow Matrix (Performer-Based), while the communications between service ports can be described using the Services Resource Flow Matrix (Role-Based).

Creating a Services Resource Flow Matrix (Performer-Based)

To create a Services Resource Flow Matrix (Performer-Based) table:

  1. Click on Services Resource Flow Matrix (Performer-Based) in the Action Artifact area to open the Services Resource Flow Matrix.
  2. This opens the Services Resource Flow Matrix (Performer-Based) table with ResourceExchanges listed. The ResourceExchanges are defined in SvcV-1.
  3. For each of the ResourceExchanges:
    1. Select the items involved in resource exchanges.
    2. Optionally fill in the attributes of operational exchanges.

Creating a Services Resource Flow Matrix (Role-Based)

The Services Resource Flow Matrix (Role-Based) table specifies the resource flows among resources. Unlike the performer-based table, role-based table focuses on the interactions between roles inside the resource performers.

To create a Services Resource Flow Matrix (Role-Based) table:

  1. Click on Services Resource Flow Matrix (Role-Based) in the Action Artifact area to open the Services Resource Flow Matrix (Role-Based).
  2. This opens the Services Resource Flow Matrix (Role-Based) table with ResourceExchanges listed.
  3. For each of the ResourceExchanges:
    1. Create a new ResourceExchange by clicking on the New Resource Exchange above the table.
    2. This creates a new row of ResourceExchange. Enter its name.
    3. Select the ResourceConnector that the ResourceExchange realizes. The ResourceConnectors are defined in SvcV-2.
    4. Select the items involved in resource exchange.
    5. Optionally fill in the attributes of resource exchanges.
