The DIV-2 allows analysis of an architecture’s data definition aspect, without consideration of implementation-specific or product-specific issues.

Another purpose is to provide a common dictionary of data definitions to consistently express models wherever logical-level data elements are included in the descriptions.


The intended usage of the DIV-2 includes:

Product Description

The DIV-2 is a UML class diagram. It is a generalized formal structure in computer science. It directly reflects the paradigm or theory-oriented mapping from the DIV-1 Conceptual Data Model to the DIV-2.

Creating a Logical Data Model

To create a Logical Data Model:

  1. Click on Logical Data Model in the Action Artifact area, and then select Create New Diagram.
  2. Type the diagram name and press Enter.
  3. A blank diagram is created and you can start constructing the view. You can create InformationElements. Connect elements with Associations.
